As we celebrate National Volunteer Week, I want to take a moment to recognize and thank all the incredible volunteers who support Muskoka Algonquin Healthcare (MAHC).

Muskoka Algonquin Healthcare (MAHC) today announced that Chief of Staff, Dr. Khaled Abdel-Razek, will retire from his role effective August 31, 2026, following a distinguished career in clinical leadership and service to the region.

Due to the complexity of the work involved in upgrading the hospital’s Automatic Transfer Switches, normal power is now expected to be restored as early as 12:00 p.m. (noon) on Wednesday, April 15, 2026.

MAHC is advising the community of a planned temporary power interruption at South Muskoka Memorial Hospital (SMMH) from 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 14 to 6:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 15, 2026. This work is required to complete upgrades to the hospital’s Automatic Transfer Switches, an important investment in maintaining reliable and resilient systems that support patient care.
