South Muskoka Memorial Hospital Auxiliary

The mission of the Auxiliary to South Muskoka Memorial Hospital is to enhance the stay of the patient in hospital by:

  • assisting patients, staff and visitors in many areas of the hospital
  • raising money to help purchase much-needed equipment
  • promoting awareness in the community of the functions of the Auxiliary

About Us

New members are always welcome and needed, but, you don't have to be an Auxiliary member to help with our fundraising projects.  

Our Auxiliary Executive consists of a President, President Elect, Executive Secretary, Executive Treasurer and Member at Large who meet monthly (with the exception of the summer months, unless required). 

There is one General Meeting and one Annual General Meeting each year.  The Annual General Meeting takes place in June.  We also hold an Awards Tea, which is held each year where awards and certificates are presented to our deserving members by an Awards Committee consisting of volunteers from our Auxiliary membership.

Fundraising and Special Events

Traditional annual events include Raffles, our 'Christmas in October' Bazaar and Luncheon, and our Christmas House Tour.  As well, many special events are held throughout the year.  Our in-hospital ventures like Muskoka Mocha coffee bar, HELPP Lottery and the Gift Shop continue to be very successful, and with the support of both our permanent and seasonal residents, proceeds from our fundraising activities have enabled us to assist our community hospital in a variety of ways. 

Scholarships - Apply by May 7, 2025

Our Auxiliary offers two annual scholarship awards of $1,000 each: one to a staff member and one to a local graduating high school student, both of who are continuing their education in the field of health sciences.  Scholarships are awarded at the AGM in June each year.

Donations

We are always grateful to the members of our community who kindly donate items for our raffles, events, Gift Shop, and Craft Group.  Friends of the Auxiliary - both individuals and businesses - are greatly appreciated for the ongoing support they give to our various fundraising ventures.  A special thank you goes to the Gravenhurst and Bracebridge Hospital Bridge Clubs who donate thousands of dollars annually to the Auxiliary as well as Annylynders Hairstyling and the Gravenhurst and Bracebridge branches of the Royal Canadian Legion for their continued support.
