After a successful fundraising campaign to bring much-needed medical equipment to the Muskoka area, a brand-new Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) machine has arrived and is finding it’s new home in Muskoka Algonquin Healthcare’s Huntsville District Memorial Hospital (HDMH) Site.

Muskoka Algonquin Healthcare (MAHC) and Huntsville Hospital Foundation are pleased to announce the renaming of the ‘South Wing’ at the Huntsville District Memorial Hospital (HDMH) Site to the ‘Christodoulou Family Rehabilitation & Reactivation Unit’.

These community sessions are an exceptional opportunity for local healthcare providers to engage with the residents they serve and educate about issues that can affect overall health.

To ensure the continued delivery of high-quality obstetrical services at the South Muskoka Memorial Hospital (SMMH) Site, Muskoka Algonquin Healthcare (MAHC) will temporarily consolidate labour and delivery care at the Huntsville District Memorial Hospital (HDMH) Site. This temporary measure is effective March 11, 2025, and will be in place for up to 12 months.

On Wednesday, February 26, 2025, the Huntsville District Memorial Hospital (HDMH) Site will experience a planned four-hour outage of the emergency back-up power system. The outage is scheduled to begin at 8 p.m. and end by midnight. The shutdown is necessary to connect the under-construction MRI Suite to emergency back-up power, an essential step in our exciting journey for Muskoka and area’s first MRI in the region.
