The Muskoka Algonquin Healthcare (MAHC) Board of Directors is pleased to welcome three new Directors and two new Committee Appointee Members following their election at the virtual Annual General Meeting on Monday, June 20.

Moreen Miller, who was appointed Board Chair for a two-year term, says the new members bring exceptional knowledge, essential skills, and passion and enthusiasm for making a difference in health care in Muskoka.

Anna Landry was appointed for a three-year term ending 2025 and brings health care experience from her professional involvement in long-term care, paramedicine and social services at the District Municipality of Muskoka having recently retired after 17 years as Director, Human Resources.  Her local Muskoka perspective, prior private sector experience, overall business acumen and systems thinking will serve the board well.  She also brings board experience from the Baysville Curling and Bocce Club and the Dickie Lake Association.

Bruce Schouten, a retired financial services executive with extensive credit, risk management, strategy, transformation and change champion experience, was appointed for a one-year term ending 2023.  Bruce holds a Chartered Financial Analyst certificate as well as a Directors Education Program certificate from the Institute of Corporate Directors and serves on the board of DUCA Financial Services Credit Union Ltd. He has also participated in community programs including children’s sports, United Way and the BC-based Cops For Cancer.

Line Villeneuve was appointed for a three‐year term ending 2025. Line brings recent MAHC experience having served as the Committee Appointee Member on the board’s Resources & Audit Committee, as well as eight years on the CAA (North and East Ontario) Board of Directors, and for a wildlife refuge and Collège Boréal as the representative of the mining industry.  She is an experienced labour relations and human resources senior leader whose roles also included public relations.

The following community members were also elected to standing committees of the Board: Ron Jewell for a one-year term as a member of the Resources & Audit Committee, and Alexandra Santos for a one-year term to the MAHC Board’s Muskoka and Area Ontario Health Team Committee.

“On behalf of the Board, I want to thank these individuals for stepping forward to serve their community in these volunteer roles,” says Miller.  “I would also like to recognize the commitment and dedication of Cameron Renwick, Beth Goodhew, Roy Stewart, and Sally Ashton and thank them for their service as they leave the Board.”

As well, with the 2022-23 elections within the Credentialed Staff Association, the Board further welcomed Credentialed Staff Vice President Dr. Allison Small who joins Credentialed Staff President Dr. Ken Hotson as an ex-officio member.

The Board of Directors is a volunteer body that plays a key leadership role in setting policies and visioning for MAHC, and ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality health care in the communities that we serve.  The recording of the Annual General Meeting and the associated annual report is posted on the MAHC website.
