Evelyn Brown

Evelyn Brown has been part of the community for many years. She holds a Masters of Education from the University of Toronto, and began her career in Muskoka as a teacher. Over the years, she moved through various stages of her career, including principal of Bracebridge and Muskoka Lakes Secondary School as well as Superintendent responsible for curriculum development and implementation and later for human resources. She was the final Director of Education for the former Muskoka Board of Education. Mrs. Brown continued her directorship with the newly-formed Trillium Lakelands District School Board, assisting the trustees, parents, staff and students through the school boards' amalgamation process.

For several terms, Mrs. Brown was a lecturer at Nipissing University Muskoka campus. Always engaged in the community and beyond, she served on many local boards including Muskoka Futures, Children's Aid Society, and Town of Bracebridge Convergence Committee, and was a founding member and Chair of Muskoka Healthy Communities Coalition, which brought 211 services to Muskoka. Mrs. Brown is currently the provincial Chair of Ontario 211 Services.

Since joining the MAHC Board of Directors in 2010, Mrs. Brown has held numerous positions including Chair of the Governance Committee and Chair of Strategic Planning Committee as well as the position of Vice-Chair and Chair of the Quality & Patient Safety Committee from 2014 - 2016. Currently, Mrs. Brown is the Chair of the Board.
