VISITOR INFORMATIONVisiting Hours - 2 pm - 8 pm (All sites) Muskoka Algonquin Healthcare has adopted a standard Vistors Policy for all of its sites, including set Visiting Hours from 2 pm - 8 pm daily. There is also a limit of 2 visitors per patient at any one time. Muskoka Algonquin Healthcare welcomes visitors and recognizes the important role that support from family and friends play in the overall healing process. It's also important for patients to get their rest so we ask all visitors to abide by the visitor guidelines. There are times when Visiting Hours may be curtailed or modified due to unforeseen circumstances. Should this situation arise, the local media will be notified and visitors will be advised upon arrival. We thank you for your support and understanding during these periods. Handwashing Your mother was right. One of the easiest ways to help prevent the spread of germs is by washing your hands. That's especially important at the hospital where patients, visitors and staff are all at risk. Handwashing stations are conveniently located at entrances to our facilities and in key areas throughout the buildings. It's important to wash your hands before and after leaving a patient's room. Smoking Smoking is not permitted inside any Muskoka Algonquin Healthcare facility. Designated smoking areas have been established outside, at a minimum distance away from entranceways. Please adhere to the directional signs and use the ashtrays provided. Scent and Fragrance Policy We don't often think about it but the fragrance of things like perfume or flowers can be detrimental to some with asthma or allergies, especially in a hospital setting. Muskoka Algonquin Healthcare encourages a fragrance-free environment. Latex balloons are prohibited due to the allergic sensitivity that some people have to latex. Wireless Communication Devices Cell phones, two-way radios, and blackberries are all common electronic accessories but they have the potential to interfere with sensitive medical equipment that also utilizes RF (radio frequency) technology. We ask that all visitors ensure these devices are turned off before entering our facilities or use them only in designated areas. Parking Public parking is available at all Muskoka Algonquin Healthcare sites. There is a fee of $5 at the South Muskoka Memorial Hospital Site and the Huntsville District Memorial Hospital site. Parking is complimentary at the Burk's Falls and District Health Centre site. A token is required to activate the gates leading out of the public parking areas. Tokens are available at various locations inside the hospitals. All money collected through parking revenue is allocated to parking lot maintenance and to cover the cost of things like snow removal. Any excess funds go directly toward improving patient care.
